Protect Your Income From Wage Garnishment

Dealing with debt and unpaid bills is stressful enough without having to wrestle with creditors and collection agencies that threaten to garnish your wages. Under Illinois law, if your creditors obtain a judgment against you, they can take up to 15 percent of gross wages or disposable earnings up to 45 times the federal minimum hourly wage, whichever is greater.

I want o help you stop harassment and prevent garnishment whenever possible. If your wages are being garnished, call me at Steele Law Offices, LLC, in Glen Carbon, Illinois. I can work to ensure that  your entire paycheck goes back in your pocket. Bankruptcy is often the best way to stop the phone calls, letters and visits and prevent garnishment. The sooner you take action, the more of your own money you will be able to keep.

I am attorney Randall P. Steele. I provide legal representation and advocacy for people who are considering bankruptcy and have for more than 30 years. I guide clients through the Chapter 7 bankruptcy process. I explain the process simply and clearly and let you know how this will help your financial situation and affect other areas of your life. Bankruptcy is often your best defense. But not in every case. That is why at our first meeting I will evaluate your financial situation and determine which path to take.

If you are divorced, or divorcing and have children we can talk about how much your employer can withhold (typically 50 or 60 percent of weekly disposable wages and an additional 5 percent for arrears payments.

Work With An Established Debt Collection Defense Attorney

In many cases I can stop garnishment. If you have received a notice that a creditor is going to garnish your wages, or you are already in the process of having your wages garnished, I can help. It is important to act as quickly as possible because creditors can also obtain orders to garnish other assets you have, including bank accounts.

If you have questions about wage garnishment, call me, attorney Randall Steele at  618-310-0844 or email me to schedule an appointment. I offer compassionate, experienced counsel and will work with you directly until your case is resolved.

I am a debt relief agency. I help people file for bankruptcy relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
