Woman at front door of bar killed by drunk driver

On Behalf of | Jan 24, 2018 | Firm News |

You never think that heading out to a bar to relax a bit is going to be the last thing you do. However, this is exactly what happened to one women who went out to The Palms with friends. The woman was struck by a driver who ran into the front door with his vehicle.

The victim died from the injuries she suffered in that tragic, fatal crash. She was a sophomore studying elementary education at Northwest Missouri State University. She was known as a bubbly person who cared about people. She also worked as a student employee at the university and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

The owner of the bar noted that he usually stands at the front door, but that night, the woman was there. It was noted that if the accident had happened 10 seconds before or after it did, she would have been fine.

The man who slammed into the establishment had a blood alcohol concentration of .207 percent. The 21-year-old man was arrested for first degree involuntary manslaughter in connection with the fatal crash. His friends note that he was a “good guy” and that he will live with the pain of causing the woman’s death forever.

The owner of the bar started an online fundraiser for the woman’s family. While this might help to defray the costs of her final expenses, it won’t help to reduce their pain. This tragedy is one that could have been prevented if the drunk driver had simply opted to stay away from the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
